About COLTEC

COLTEC is a pioneer and leading provider of technology for Arabic language information processing. As a result of over twenty years in R&D, Dr. Taghride Anbar, founder of COLTEC, has developed proprietary Natural Language Processing (NLP) models on which a number of applications have been built.

With a highly experienced and dedicated staff, of which over 60% have completed their post-graduate degrees, COLTEC is recognized for the quality of its products and experience in the field of Arabic computational linguistics. That’s why our Arabic language tools and services are used by leading companies such as Microsoft and IBM as well as various Intelligence communities around the world.

Our Technology

COLTEC has developed unique text and content analysis systems which are revolutionary in the Arabic language processing industry. Built on advanced proprietary Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, the system guarantees efficient, fast, comprehensive and, above all, intelligent data analysis and information retrieval capabilities.

Our search technologies analyze data and are specifically engineered to retrieve information based on the concepts contained in them, not simply on keyword matches, enabling searchers to immediately find relevant and actionable information.

Our Products & Services

COLTEC offers a wide range of products including a set of Arabic proofing tools – spelling checker (reaching speeds up to 800,000 words/second), grammar checker (the only applied one in the world), tri-lingual dictionary, thesaurus, and vowelization, to name a few.

We also provide high-end applications such as an intelligent text analysis system, named entity extractor (by far the most linguistically-advanced one in the world), transcription system, language analyzer, disambiguation system, and highly intelligent search solutions using the most advanced Arabic NLP techniques.

Our applications are designed for small, medium, and large-scale systems that need to identify, classify, analyze, index, and search Arabic text, and can be integrated with third party applications. We also offer custom-built applications.

Our solutions are used by a wide variety of public and private sectors, ranging from basic PC users to global enterprises, academic researchers to defense and intelligence communities.

We’ve been the sole provider of Arabic proofing tools to Microsoft since 1992 when the company first licensed its Arabic Spelling Checker to be integrated with Microsoft Word 6.0.

We also licensed a set of search components to Microsoft which are integrated with numerous applications including most recently Office 2003, SQL Server 2005, and SharePoint Portal Server 2003.
